I think this is so cool (I realize that some people may not) !!! Sometime between last night and this morning Google maps (maps.google.com) put up the street view for my area. How crazy is it?!!! I love it!!! The picture doesn't go all the way down my cul-de-sac, but that's my house right in front of you. I checked out my old house and our next door neighbors kids are outside riding their bikes and another neighbor is sitting of their front porch. It looks like every day more areas across the U.S. are being done. You should check out your address! If you are not familiar with it:

• go to maps.google.com and scroll to U.S.A continent.
• be sure to click the street view button in the top right area of the map
  zoom into your city and any street that is outlined in blue is one that you can view in the street view format.
• an orange person will be present and you can drag and drop that person where ever you want to be (use the X below the person to make sure you drop down on the right street).
• then a window will pop up with the view of the street. You can look all around (complete 360 degrees)
• enjoy!!!

You can expand these ideas further with geological representation of information valuable to others...like the business I mention in my Gold Rush post, detailing locations of gold mine for possible harvesting and earning from it.

Tracking Diamonds Using RFID

One of the biggest challenges that diamond traders face with is in managing the hundreds if not thousands of loose gems. Imagine walking into the storehouse inventory with all these small envelopes of precious loose stones stacked in boxes and trying to figure out the exact gem type. If you are using a barcode scanner, life is probably prettier although still rather tedious. For some it is an entirely MANUAL task, an extremely difficult job. It will take ages just to make sure all the numbers tally. What if there is a better solution? Like sticking the box through a tunnel-like scanner, and everything about your inventory reads out to you on the screen ? The Answer :

Diamonds are placed in an individual envelope, and each envelope is small enough to be stack-fit into a namecard box. RFID tags are then stuck to the envelope (paper label) or inserted (non- adhesive plastic card), one tag for each envelope. When the user pushes the box through the scanner, it reads the information stored in the tag for each envelop and display the entire inventory for a single box on the screen. This is a HUGE man hours saver.

100 tags can be identified in 1-2 seconds. Take a scenario of 10,000 diamonds. In terms of equipment resources using this solution, it will require 2 x MTR units (the tunnel like scanner above), operated by 1 person. In terms of time, it will take approximate 5 hours to complete inventory check procedure. Contrast this to a manual system. For 10,000 diamonds, it will require 20 persons over 3 weeks thereabouts. That comes up to 15 minutes per diamond vs 5 minutes per 100 diamonds. It’s a great saving in man-hours, no doubt about it. Think about it !

Creating Niche YouTube Clones for Profit

Another simple home business idea is that I have seen several aspiring entrepreneurs create YouTube clones and scrape YouTube videos to be placed on their sites. Some of these sites were then subsequently listed in auctions within webmaster forums.

Surprisingly, these YouTube clones do derive a fairly decent amount of search traffic with some revenue coming from display of contextual ads.

Copyright issues may cause these YouTube clones to be shut down and displaying Adsense on them may be more of a risk then a profitable move. Instead of creating a clone, it might be better to create a niche video site that targets a specific audience.

For example, a social video sharing website specifically on the topic of Yoga. One could liaise with Yoga equipment manufacturers, schools and blogs and work out exclusive ad, video and traffic-sharing partnerships.

This will work as a competitive advantage because major video websites have content that are conceptually dispersed, with no exclusivity or emphasis on a niche topic, nor any strong sense of community.

Have you been watching a James Bond movie and thought to yourself i want that tux ? Have you been watching a music video on MTV and thought to yourself i want that celebrity gowns, would be great for a night out.

Well, here's the chance to solve this problem, just imagine how many people out there would love to wear the same clothes as their favorite celebrity. I have done some extensive research, and have found that there is hardly any in the whole of the internet that sells clothing from movies that the celebrity wear, or even give links to the sites that do sell them for a small affiliate income. A site that comes close to this is Celebrity EyeWear which carries an assortment of sunglasses.

To expand this further, if there is a website on "Hollywood Wear", then I think movie fans could drop by such a site for their favorite celebrity clothing.

It's wanted but it just isn't given. I'm also thinking about massive databases, music video databases where you can choose clothing from movie video while watching it. For example, i was watching MTV Dance with my mate, and a music video came on 'Micky Moddelle - Over You' and my mate said "I want that top she's wearing" and i said "Go on that site that sells celebrity wear from music videos and stuff" and guess what, there isn't one!

This is one of those businesses where you have to get the word out Directly. To mechanics to collect Copper Radiators, Plumbers who might replace water systems for the Brass and Copper they take out, sparkies for the wire, and so on. Here's how you can easily start a scrap metal business from scrap metal pickup. You do not need a Truck to get started. Well, you don't even need a Pick Up - it helps if you do have a Pickup, but you do Not Need one to get started. Here's why....

One fellow started his scrap metal pickup business with his Sedan. If the load was too big to transport in his Sedan he'd either hook up a trailer to his sedan, Hire a Pickup or small Truck to drive to transport it, or even hire a larger transport with driver if it warranted it. He started by recycling old computer -on computer monitor recycling and computer equipment recycling and eventually opened his own computer recycling center. With the point being, do not let your lack of pickup be a hindrance to getting started in scrap metal business.

And with regards to this, you need to know the current scrap metal prices at the various yards. How much are scrap metal worth ? You can find out from the respective scrap metal merchants and ask them for their current scrap metal prices. Generally, the prices go...

As you can see, stainless steel recycling is the least attractive. I actually like Brass over Copper Wire because of its Weight to Volume ratio. It weighs a lot while taking up a small space. (Visit a hardware store and pick up a Brass Faucet Set to understand this). You'll also need to carry a magnet around with you. With the exception of Steel, the others are Non Magnetic. Important to know before you think you've got a load of Brass when it's really Brass Coated Steel or Brass Colored Steel.

Also a good idea to carry around some Hay Bale Bags or Garden Waste Bags to put Loose Scrap Wire into. A small fertilizer bag might hold 20kg of wire while the larger bags could hold around 100kg. At $2 per kg for such wire, the small bag would be worth about $40 while the larger bag around $200. Often, you can get such bags for Free from the scrap metal merchants by telling them you have a Lot of scrap wire and need a bag to put it into.

Many bags of scrap wire can be filled during an Office Strip Out. In fact, if on average a single floor strip out can yield 1,500kg of wire per floor. At $2 per kg, that will be $3,000 worth of wire per floor. And for a 12-floor office, you would have pocketed $36,000 cash in recycle scrap wire while also charging for taking it away!

Another scrap metal business ideas is to take away the discarded Catalytic Converter scrap from your mechanics for recycling. A guy who did this opened them up and take out the Titanium and put it into four 44 gallon drums (all on one pallet) and sold the four drums to a company in Germany for $120,000 cash !!! The Next Sacred Gold Rush

Gold for money. Big mining companies and the banks that finance them have made a fortune from the global commodities boom in recent years. And as prices of gold, nickel, copper, and other metals have soared to record highs, mining properties around the world that were once deemed marginal are swinging back into production.

It's no secret, of course: Bolivia holds known gold reserves estimated to be at least 3 million troy ounces, worth roughly $2 billion. But the government has never done a comprehensive geologic survey, and mining engineers have recently estimated that the actual amount could be several multiples higher. More important, the newly elected government of president Evo Morales has promised to modernize the $400 million mining industry and invite in foreign know-how and investment.

Bolivia could be the find of the decade, not just because of its vast mineral potential but because of its shockingly low barriers to entry. Only 3 percent of Bolivian territory has gold-mining claims, and 85 percent of those are owned by small co-ops of individual miners. The co-ops have more than 60,000 members in all, most of them peasant landowners who literally scratch out a living working their claims with picks and shovels.

Prospectors can pursue two basic gold farming strategies.

Plan A : partner with or hire a local geologist (the going rate is $2,500 to $3,000 a month), use his expertise to find a promising plot of land, and apply for a claim with the Bolivian Ministry of Mines. (Foreigners can now own claims outright.) If your application is the first one in, it'll be approved. The government charges a nominal application fee and a tax of $1 per hectare if you win the claim. Once you complete a survey - and show proven reserves - you've picked up for nothing a piece of real estate worth millions of dollars to a gold producer.

Plan B: With $300,000 or so in seed funding, you won't be buying gold surveys but rather purchasing existing mining claims directly from the peasants who own them - and then flipping the property later to a mining company. Here's how it might work: The claim holders don't actually own the land, just the mineral rights. Many earn a subsistence living by mining with their own tools. Buying them out requires a local ally (your geologist, most likely) to negotiate terms.

And with a geologist at your side, you have a prime advantage. Most claims lack detailed surveys or core samples, but a geologist will spot telltale signs of rich deposits that a layperson can't, and can compare a property's geographic features with others that have already struck gold. Whether you stake a claim or buy one, the easiest exit strategy is to flip a property to a medium-size mining company. Happy gold farming !
